Matthew John Sparano

Matthew John SparanoMatthew John Sparano has been involved in the Automotive Aftermarket and Tow Industry for more than 30 years. His solid foundation in this industry started at the age of 13 in a family-operated auto body repair and towing business through his graduation from Stockton State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Financial Management in 1988.

In 1990, Matthew became a Corporate Auto Physical Damage Supervisor for Pennsylvania Manufacturers Insurance Company, where he managed regional staff appraisers. Matthew was responsible for overseeing all claims representatives in relation to physical damage claims. As an active member of the Corporate Adult Team, he audited physical damage claims for PMA’s 10 regional offices, including the presentation of audit results and the development of action plans on improving claim handling.

While at PMA, Matthew updated and revised its Auto Physical Damage Claims Manual and Claims Handling Guidelines to be used company wide. He also developed and administered district office training seminars on the handling of physical damage claims.

Matthew’s performance at Pennsylvania Manufacturers Insurance led to the additional responsibility of managing and administering the sale of all salvage generated by PMA, including negotiations of sales contracts, evaluations and processing of sealed bids and open auction programs.

In 1999, Matthew obtained his P&C Producers license and moved to a sales position with Universal Underwriters. It was in this position that Matthew was able to capitalize on his vast knowledge of both insurance and the automotive aftermarket and Tow industry. As an Account Executive for Zurich/Universal Underwriters Group, Matthew managed two territories, growing one territory from $600,000 to $2.3 Million and another from $1.3 Million to $5.3 million. This was all done while maintaining a loss ratio of less than 35 percent for nine consecutive years.

As a four-time President’s Club Winner, Matthew exceeded Zurich’s profitability goal for nearly 10 consecutive years. His achievements led to the additional responsibility of training and mentoring other Zurich Account Executives in the Account Executive Training Program.

Matthew is also a trained marine mechanic with board certification from the Outboard Marine Corporation. As an accomplished boater, he has operated vessels and fished in the inshore and offshore waters of New Jersey, New York and Florida. Matthew is also an avid Fisherman and Sportsman, whose love for the outdoors has taken him to hunting and fishing from Alaska to Central America.

Matthew lives in Middletown, New Jersey, with his wife Gina and three children.
